“U.S. Army Veteran Ryan Groves has been through dark times. He has lost his leg, suffered a punctured lung, and has been close to dying on numerous occasions. It is because of these hardships that Groves has formed a deep appreciation for life and positivity. The design “Know The Other Side” demonstrates that the good things in life cannot exist without the bad. This is symbolized by the sun and moon yin yang; two opposing forces that are interdependent. The words “Semper Fi” mean “Always Faithful,” and the orbiting lines reflect the cyclicality of everyday life. This design is a call to action for civilians to “Know The Other Side” of our Veterans; to get to know them and their perspectives. Also, it shows the importance of encouraging individuals to recognize the “other side” of any situation, good or bad.”
